NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2005 NEXT MEETING: Our next meeting is scheduled for 1st December at 6:00pm. Mr. Lionel Levine will give a presentation entitled “What will be Sir Stafford Sands’ niche in Bahamian history.” Following the meeting Christmas refreshments will be served. This will be our last meeting for 2005 and promises to be interesting. LAST MEETING: We thank Dr. Keith Tinker and Mr. Pericles Maillis for their very interesting presentation on the efforts to preserve Clifton. The presentation was followed by a very lively discussion. JANUARY MEETING: Our January meeting is scheduled for 26th of the month. Mr. Chris Curry will give a presentation on Bain Town. More details will be provided in the next Newsletter. JOURNAL: Volume 27 of The Journal of The Bahamas Historical Society has been published and is being mailed to all members who have paid their membership dues. Once again, we thank Dr. Gail Saunders, Editor, and the Editorial Committee for another interesting edition. The table of contents is available for viewing on the website, www.bahamashistoricalsociety.com.
FIELD TRIP: Thirty-six Grade 4 students from St. Andrews School visited the Museum on 1st November. Mr. Jim Lawlor, a longtime member of the Society and one of our Trustees, spoke to the children on the Museum and The Bahamas Historical Society. We like for school groups to visit the Museum. Thank you Jim for speaking to the kids. COMPLAINT: One of our members wrote to us recently complaining that he had not received the Newsletter in a longtime. We were very sorry to learn this, but we have no way of knowing if the paper edition of the Newsletter is being delivered. Please let us know if you experience difficulties. All members should advise of any address changes, both postal and e-mail. HOLIDAYS: We wish our American members and friends a happy Thanksgiving holiday and we wish all of our members and friends a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! |
