We are deeply saddened and shocked by the news of the murder of Sylvia Cates, the mother of David Cates, Treasurer and Past-President of the Bahamas Historical Society. While the Cates family mourns this incomprehensible loss, we are confident that they will find ways to comfort each other through the love and fond memories within the family. We understand that "Sister Cates," as she was lovingly called, was well respected within her community, and that she dedicated much of her energy towards the welfare of the people of Rock Sound and South Eleuthera. We wish to express our sincerest condolences on behalf of the Bahamas Historical Society and all its members, who will keep the Cates family in their thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.
